In 2023, we paid R25.85 million in Personal Risk Cover claims every working day, to the total of R6.72 billion. Our 29 676 claimants were families who needed our support in real moments that mattered, which included several complex cases where we found a way to show up for clients in their moments of vulnerability.
We also made significant changes to improve our processes in an effort to further deliver on our promise of empathy and care. From January to December 2023, we reduced turnaround times by 50%. The improvement in processes enabled our clients to spend less time lodging a claim and allowed them to focus on what really matters; their health and family. The number of claims to be processed was reduced by 48%, often paying out within 24 hours of a claim being submitted digitally. This fast turnaround provided much-needed comfort during our clients most difficult times of need.
